Sherri L. Warshaw, RDH, CTTS is a recognized expert in the field of nicotine cessation and motivational interviewing. She started her career in dentistry 50 years ago and has been a dental hygienist clinician, educator, and speaker. In 2013 Sherri achieved her certification as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist from the prestigious Mayo Clinic Nicotine Dependence Center and started her company, Smokefree Steps, LLC. Sherri works with individuals, businesses, healthcare professionals, and schools to provide treatment and lectures on nicotine addiction.
As a Professional Educator for a dental company Sherri presents to dental offices several times each month and is considered an expert in oral hygiene procedures for individuals. She spent 25 years of her career in periodontal specialty practices and treated people addicted to nicotine in the dental setting. Through the practice of Motivational Interviewing she has had great success and now lectures to groups on how to incorporate MI into all types of behavior change.
Sherri has been married for 46 years to her husband, Steven, a former CEO of a Fortune 500 Company. She has three grown children that live in California, Connecticut, and Ohio but their road to adulthood was marred by a violent attack on her 15 year old son at his high school. Her youngest child was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at age 6. Sherri speaks on how these two challenges became intertwined and led to ultimate success. In 1995 Sherri graduated as a dental hygienist, number one in her class, honor student of the year at the University of Cincinnati, Blue Ash, and dealt with many challenges during her time as a non-traditional student. She has a compelling story to share and motivate others going through challenges.
