Kira Taylor is a culture maven with a passion for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. She has facilitated and trained hundreds of students and adult learners in her higher education career. Kira is committed to helping others grow and develop personally, through leadership and the power of storytelling. She stands by her mission statement that has guided her in her career so far:
“I believe in a force greater than myself alone. I value connectedness and inclusion especially in productive spaces. I think that exploration and adventure are keys to understanding life. I push to challenge the norm, yet preserving tradition when and where necessary. I value arts and humanities as a form of expression; for communication and vulnerability are building blocks to better bonds. I embrace time; my experiences of the past present and future. I value equity and will advocate for all human rights within my community. I move to elevate myself and others through mentorship and continuous learning.”
She possesses a B.A in Africana Studies, with focuses on Women & Gender Studies and Communications from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Kira also holds a M.A in Student Affairs Administration from Appalachian State University. She is a native of Durham, NC.
Currently, Kira serves as a campus based professional at San Jose State University advising fraternity and sorority life. She also is involved in national associations such as NASPA as the Knowledge Chair in the New Professional and Graduate Students Knowledge Community, and the Special Events Chair for the West for the Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values.
In her free time, Kira enjoys traveling, bonding with friends and family, and indulging in some of her favorite shows and YouTubers.
