Kevin's Programs

Creating a Professional Persona – Participants will learn how to get noticed for senior roles. This module opens with a discussion of four cognitive biases we all possess and how these biases affect how we see others – and how others see us. The topic then flows into an exploration of executive presence, developing confidence and swagger, communicating, connecting with others, networking, and a review of Emotional Intelligence.

Making the Transition to Leadership – This module begins with an interactive discussion of the pathways to senior jobs – hired into a role or promoted from within. We talk about the mix of the strategic and the tactical as one climbs the career ladder. We focus on eight- to- ten leadership behaviors to avoid and to emulate. The latter portion then shifts to a discussion of five key strategic executive dimensions: creating a vision, building a leadership team, deliberately creating an organizational culture, managing multiple priorities and audiences, and looking over the horizon for threats and opportunities.

Career Accelerators – Here I provide a toolkit of seminal books and readings designed to quickly arm developing leaders with people management skills. We go into a deeper discussion on developing the art of persuading others, becoming a great negotiator, sharpening one’s business writing skills, mastering public speaking abilities, coaching other for performance, and refining the aptitude for connecting with others. We also delve into the importance of self- awareness, self- knowledge, and resilience.

Manage Your Career Over Time – A career does not follow a linear path. There are ups, downs, zigs, and zags.  At times we find ourselves tired or uninspired. We may even find ourselves fired. This module focuses on avoiding costly career mistakes, overcoming setbacks, continuous life-learning, and being planful in the way we manage our career progression. This module ends with five positive attitudes to develop to help participants realize their professional and personal goals.

In addition to these career modules, I also offer sessions specific to seeking and being a mentor.
