Tina Slinker has been inspiring and changing lives for over 30 years. As a coach and speaker, Slinker has made it her mission to touch people’s lives in a positive and affirming way. Her ability to teach others how to build relationships, develop communication and manage and deal with adversity are valuable skills for effectively managing and establishing teams, advancing growth and becoming a strong leader in the workplace.


Tina’s speaking style is a unique blend of motivating, story-telling and authenticity. Her experience in the work force and in life, offer key values on the importance of knowing who you are, above what you do, so that you can better take yourself to where you want to go. She challenges people and companies to get the very best out of themselves, to embrace and reach their highest level of success.


The ability to deal with adversity and loss, comes directly from Tina’s own life trials. The loss of her mom and dad, the loss of her job-inspired the authoring of her book For the Love of Mom. It gives people the tools for dealing with the challenges we face in difficult times. Working in a highly competitive career, she also dealt with a great deal of pressure to win and

understands how to overcome obstacles and rise above to attain one’s deepest ambitions, as they obtain the basic steps for reaching their goals.


Tina Slinker is formerly the Director of Athletics at The Hockaday School in Dallas.


Prior to that, Slinker was a dynamic and successful Division I women’s basketball coach at The University of North Texas, where she was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame. Noted, as the winningest coach in UNT women’s basketball history, she and her team achieved numerous milestones, including four Conference Championships, back to back appearances in the WNIT, and Big West Coach of the Year.


Before jumping int to collegiate coaching ranks as an assistant under the legendary Marsha Sharp at Texas Tech, Slinker served as the head coach at Bridgeport High School for seven years.



During an extended playing career, Slinker was a trailblazer for other young women, as she was one of New Mexico’s first stars at Portales High School. Her tenacity and dedication created the opportunity for her to play for the nationally-renowned program at Wayland Baptist University, in Plainview, Texas. The Flying Queens amassed an impressive record of 132-16 during Slinker’s tenure. She then went on to play professionally for the Chicago Hustle.

For the Love of Mom was inspired by the loss of Tina Slinker's mother and father. It is a deeply personal story about the pain, sorrow, and sometimes guilt that we experience when someone we love dies. The book will take the reader on a journey to healing through the many emotions involved in dealing with such profound loss. It allows the reader the freedom to grieve in their own way and in their own time. More than a book about losing a mom, it is a celebration of the many blessings that life offers in hard times. The resounding theme is one of encouragement to the readers to find healthy ways to manage their loss.
