RON RABINOVITZ - BIOGRAPHY

Ron was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and is the adopted son of David and Charlotte Rabinovitz. At the age of seven Ron became a Jackie Robinson fan. His father was a heartfelt Brooklyn Dodger fan who held deep admiration for Robinson. After meeting Robinson at the age of 7, Ron and Jackie formed an amazing relationship. It began as pen-pals and grew into so much more. They formed a beautiful bond and became the dearest of friends, sharing their lives with one another until Robinson’s death in 1972.

Ronnie shares his remarkable story across the country. It is an astonishing story of a man and a boy—a story that spans across fifty years. It is the story of a young boy and his hero. It is the story of dreams coming true. It is the story of never forgetting. It is the story of “paying it forward.” This is the story of one of the most important African American figures of all times.

In his teen years Ron had the incredible experience of working closely with his father, David in the 1960 presidential primary reporting directly to John F. Kennedy. David Rabinovitz, an attorney specializing in equal rights, was involved in politics and was later appointed a federal Judgeship by President Kennedy. Ron’s passion for politics continues today.

From early on Ron had aspirations to be involved in the world of communications. At the age of 20 he moved to Minneapolis to attend the Brown Institute. Following his graduation at Brown, Ron had a winning career as a radio broadcaster. He later found his true niche in sales.

Ron’s many appearances and interviews include: The Larry King Show, USA Today, CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, Chicago Sun Times, CBS Radio New York, ESPN, Minneapolis Star Tribune, and NPR,s The Story with Dick Gordon, just to name a few.

An Emmy nominated MLB Network documentary entitled, "Letters From Jackie" telling Ron's story was produced in 2007 and continues to be shown. A play, The Incredible Season of Ronnie Rabinovitz, written by Eric Simonson, of Broadway fame was a smash hit in 2014.
