“We were fortunate enough to secure Karl to help facilitate the conversations [during our leadership meeting in San Francisco]. Huge shout out to Karl – he did a fabulous job keeping us on track, mindful of time, others’ opinions, etc. He was very professional and I really appreciated his time!”
- BD, Sr. Manager, EMC Corporation

“I have heard extremely positive feedback in relation to Karl Hebenstreit and the development program that he delivered to the pre-sales leadership team in Milan. The accolades were universal. The comments that the team shared with me include “he is a true expert,” “he built up credibility and trust with the team,” “he makes [the Enneagram] so easy to understand,” “I can use this is many ways,” and “I wish he could roll this out to me team.” In my experience, it is rare for people to be enthused 6 weeks after the event, and this in itself is a testament to how well the program was received.”

- N.A., HR Director, EMC Corporation

“On behalf of the San Diego Professional Coaches Alliance (SDPCA), I would like to say a genuine and heartfelt “Thank You!” for the brilliant and insightful presentation that you gave to our members. This was the largest attended meeting we’ve had in six months specifically attributed to you. The member feedback we received via the Session Evaluations indicated some of the highest ratings received on a presentation, shown as follows on a one to five scale: Presenter: 4.8 | Topic: 4.8 | Applicability to me: 4.5 | Handouts/Materials: 4.6 | Overall session/meeting: 4.7 | Written comments included: “Best speaker ever!” “Well presented” and “Well organized.” “Thanks so much for the opportunity to take the assessment and get the extensive report”; “I came here to (specifically) hear the presentation”; “Valuable to see how Karl presented it without using the symbol”; “Looking forward to applying the Enneagram in executive coaching.” In addition to people lingering afterwards to talk more about application of your presentation, these ratings reinforce that you were a real hit! Your presentation has made a valuable contribution to our members’ body of knowledge and to their personal and professional development.”

- San Diego Professional Coaches Alliance

“R. Karl once again proved to be nothing short of a master at running a meeting. He was prepared, organized and focused and yet allowed for free-flowing conversation while keeping the group on track and result oriented. Wow.”

Dr. Timothy Seelig, Artistic Director, San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus

“My team is fortunate to have benefited from Karl’s expertise. Over the last two years Karl has conducted annual workshops with my worldwide team, helping us to understand and maximize the value of our differing operating styles. This is particularly important due to the diversity of our team:

  • Staff members operate in Asia, Europe, and USA (26 locations globally), with many cultural and operational differences
  • Interaction is normally by phone or email, and not in person, increasing the potential for misunderstanding
  • English is a second language for three of the six team members
  • We operate in sensitive audit environments where the quality of client interaction can significantly impact
  • operating effectiveness

Karl has successfully assisted us to relate well as a team by understanding our operating styles, and agree to protocols to guide our interactions with our audit clients. We now have demonstrated success in applying this to our interaction as a team, and building effective client relationships.
Karl has an open approach, is an effective listener, and is able to capably synthesize data to facilitate understanding and promote learning.”

- BC, Head of Internal Audit, Sybase

Taking Care of Business With The Enneagram

The ability to take on another person’s point of view is a vital part of getting anything done successfully, and the Enneagram offers a unique and effective route to open people up to other ways of thinking. In The How and Why: Taking Care of Business with the Enneagram, author R. Karl Hebenstreit, PhD, provides a thorough overview of Organization Development tools and frameworks traditionally associated with solving typical business challenges—infusing and enhancing them with insight from the Enneagram. Pulling from over twenty-five years of Human Resources and Organization Development experience, Hebenstreit provides a practical guide to applying the Enneagram to a variety of business challenges and initiatives. Easy to understand and designed to be put to immediate use, chapters such as “Recruitment, Engagement, and Retention,” “Strategic Planning,” “Influence,” and “Executive Coaching and Development”

blend the insights of the Enneagram model with existing Organization Development best practices to help create more robust solutions. This extraordinary resource integrates the great efforts and thought happening around the globe to advance insight and understanding in both ourselves and our organizations.

Nina & The Really Really Tough Decision

This children’s book follows Nina’s journey and process in making a difficult decision. She meets each one of her eight friends to ask for their advice and input on how they make decisions, so she can learn from them and make hers. It teaches readers and listeners about nine different perspectives that people have, and how each of them is valid; but bringing them all together is even more powerful. Messages about diversity and inclusion are woven into the story line and moral/lesson, and there are many opportunities to explore deeper understanding of each perspective and type by exploring the illustrations for each character. This book is intended to increase children’s (and adult!) emotional intelligence, specifically awareness, understanding, and importance of diversity of

perspective and motivation, using the powerful Enneagram model, without explicitly introducing it as such.
