Micro Lessons

With Macro Effect

Micke Hermansson is a former teacher who created a new way to encourage a love of learning in his students. Facing a particularly difficult class made him revaluate all his ways of teaching and presenting. The results were truly amazing and the concept, Grej of the Day – GOTD ("grej" is Swedish for "one thing") has really taken off and is now used by 100.000s of teachers all over the world.

GOTD involves three basic steps:

  1. A Clue: Always given the day before the micro lesson. This makes the students curious and ready to learn.
  2. Micro lesson: The next day, you give a micro lesson (8-10 minutes) where you will present the facts in a storytelling manner. Included are also a WOW-ending!
  3. A Retelling Part: The final step is for the students to go home and retell parts of the GOTD to their parents.

There are some spectacular pedagogical principles behind this method and Micke was amazed by the transformation of his students. GOTD soon became very popular in Scandinavia and is now being transmitted all around the world, becoming the biggest educational export ever from the Nordic countries.

In this high-energy keynote Micke tells the story behind GOTD, how it became a world success and how YOU can start using the method tomorrow.
