Joseph C’de Baca is a native of Santa fe, New Mexico and worked in various vocational trades before becoming a teacher. He has taught in the public schools and in college and University settings. He has been active in historical, social, and community organizations.

Hispanic Diversity

This workshop will begin with the historical overview: Raices Hispanicas e Indias. The roots of ancient Hispano-Indio civilizations come together to create new people and cultures. New ethnic and national identities develop into what is now our current social mosaic. Origins of the various Hispanic labels will be examined for historical accuracy and ethnic precision. Individuals will participate in a self-definition activity followed by a question and discussion session.

Ethnic Accuracy

Origins of the various Hispanic labels will be explored for historical accuracy and ethnic precision. Social vocabulary will be reviewed for distinctions in meaning and application.

Self-Definition

Individuals will participate in a self-definition analysis activity. They will also work in groups to discuss and share their findings. The workshop will culminate with questions and discussion.
